Extender Setup process



  • Connect a power outlet near your router to your Netgear EX6400 AC1900 WiFi Mesh extender.

  • The amber light on the power will turn solid green when the Range extender is ready for setup.


  • NOTE: If the Netgear Extender does not light up after turning it on, press the power button on the side panel.

  • Connect your computer or mobile device to Netgear Ext, Netgear's default extender tag.

  • You can accomplish this by looking for Netgear Ext in your WiFi list and connecting to it, or by using an Ethernet cable to connect your computer directly to your Range Extender.

  • You can use any browser after you've created a link (google, firefox, safari, etc).

  • In the Address Bar or URL, type 192.168.1.250 or mywifiext.net.

  • It will take you to Netgear's offline website, NEW EXTENDER SETUP.

  • Create an account by filling out a new extension configuration with your name, password, and security questions.

  • It will begin looking for available WiFi networks in your vicinity after you select Next.

  • From the list, select your primary WiFi network and input your Internet password.

  • Repeat the procedures above if your router supports dual-band (5GHz).

  • The changes will take up to 60 seconds to apply once you select Next, depending on your network speed and the distance between your router and the Netgear Extender.


  • Finally, it will display Your Netgear Ex6400 Extender tag, which will be Home-WiFi-Network-Name EXT, after it has been configured.

  • Unplug the Range Extender and place it halfway between your router and the area that requires WiFi signals.


  • For best speed, keep it away from heavy appliances that could interfere with the Netgear WiFi Extender's signals.



Netgear AC1900 WiFi Mesh Extender Via WPS Button




  • Connect the power supply to the Netgear AC1900 WiFi Mesh Extender.

  • Press the power button on the side panel.

  • Before the status LED goes orange, keep an eye on it.

  • Now press the WPS button on the AC1900 WiFi Mesh Extender.

  • At the same time, press the WPS button on the wireless router.

  • Once the WPS link is established, the status LED will illuminate.

  • You can now connect your PC to the extender's network.

Use the Reset button on your Extender to reset it.


  • Make sure the Wi-Fi Extender Power light is turned on first.

  • The Extender's Reset button is situated on the bottom panel of the Extender.

  • Find a pen or a pin-like device to quickly press the button.

  • Press the Reset button for five seconds, or until the System to Netgear Extender LED blinks Amber.

  • Keep pressing the extender until the Device to Extender LED blinks Amber.

  • After you release the Netgear Extender button, wait for your Extender to reboot.

  • The factory defaults for the Extender have now been restored.




ii) Reset your Extender using the Extender's Online Web Browsers




  • If you need to reset your Extender, do it on a computer that is connected to it.

  • Open a web browser on your computer (Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are recommended).

  • In the URL field of a web browser, type www.mywifinext.

  • On the Login tab, accurately enter your e-mail address and password.

  • On the NETGEAR Extender genie tab, go to Settings and then Other Settings.

  • After pressing the Reset Button, answer Yes to the prompt.

  • Your NETGEAR Extender will restore to factory default settings after a few moments.
